Customer Reviews
Order included : Aaloo paratha, shami kebab, chicken boti, roghni naan and beef nihari.
Everything was delicious.
Shami kebab was moist, tender and flavorful.
Roghni naan is served in a striking vertical stand. Very appealing.
Nihari was spicy with medallions of beef cooked to perfection.
Special mention to the waitress for excellent service and attention to detail.
(The bathroom deserves a lot to be desired. For one there is only one toilet for the whole entire restaurant.
Floor is sticky and on the whole just really disgusting to use)

Immediately you enter the space your hit by the potent aroma of what smells like exotic spices . The staff was very polite and seem to enjoy their working environment, I ordered one of their gourmet milkshakes which was nothing short of amazing in which I could say the same for the food . Amazing spice profile , tender meat and simply cooked to perfection . I will admit we were skeptical at first as it was our first time trying Pakistan cuisine but the experience was definitely worth it . Would highly recommend, and shoutout to our waiter Thando she was phenomenal;) and Andile who was so patient and kind with us .
owami mbali

Had a pleasant dining experience during lunch on a weekday, eventhough it was quite crowded, but the service is fast, warm and friendly assistance from Andile and food was scrumptious and carefully prepared. We decided to add on food to go, and didn’t have to wait that long for the kitchen to prepare. Highly recommended.

MY Diners Restaurant, located around the corner from the entertainment and games facility of The Zone@Rosebank, is a delightful dining venue for lovers of good Pakistani food. The restaurant is huge, but may appear to be a tad crowded over weekends. Love the solid, round, marble top dining tables, the comfortable chairs as well as the colourful, floral decor. The food: Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken with Basmati rice, and Chicken Bunny was good. Loved the iron pot the biryani was served in, as well as the huge Bunny chow, drenched in gravy. Portions were exceptionally large, so go in with an appetite, or opt to share portions where you can. The takeaway of leftovers is very decently packed (self-service). Their onion and tomato sambals were brilliant, and the Masala Chai was tops. Soji desert was good, with other treat options available at the counter.
Really appreciated the attentive service from whichever waiter / waitron was available (Evelyn and Never were always at hand).
The in-house bathrooms are well equipped, and the wash basin comes in very handy if eating Indian style with one’s fingers.
Menu is strictly Halaal, and drinks appear to be only Kingsley branded.
All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience.
Victor Rajkumar

Had a pleasant lunch experience here with my family. The food is tasty with good service. The food portions are definitely smaller when compared to the MyDiners branches in Durban. Overall, this was a good experience with good food!

Customer Reviews
The Butter Chicken curry was… simply delicious!
Absolutely loved this tasty Indian creamy tomato dish.
The Paratha (roti) was fluffy and fresh.
The ambience was pleasant.
The staff were hospitable.
The place was clean and the seating area spacious.
The area is fairly safe – as long as you don’t flash your valuables in public areas (for example, walking down the road ).
The main purpose for visiting this Indian restaurant – with its authentic Indian ingredients and Muslim chefs – was to cure my terrible cold!
I’ve learnt from experience , over the years, that a bowl of Indian lentil curry or butter-chicken curry relieves a terrible cold!
Seddi

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER FOOD HAD A STENCH ..CHICKEN VEINS WERE NOT CLEANED COMPLAINED TO THE WAITER ..BUT NO RESPONSE.
AS I WAS LEAVING THE RESTAURANT. SAW THE MANAGER AND CHATTED TO HIM .
HE JUST SAID OO
Mahomed Azhar

The food and service are acceptable and comparable to the other branches; however, the location is dreadful, as the area is a rundown, filthy part of town, and parking is the biggest challenge.
Jithin George

I’ve lost count the number of times that I have visited Dosa Hut and this is owning to the fact the food is just impeccable.
Dosa Hut is situated in the heart of Fordsburg’s busiest streets which can be intimidating. Parking can be an issue. The restaurant is rather small and can become crowded and noisy which leads to having to wait for space but it’s every bit worth it.
They specialise in all Indian cuisine with South Indian cuisine the main focus. The Dosas are a hit and a must eat along with the Thali. The food is always fresh, tasty, flavourful, spicy but not over the top (you can ask for hotter variants) and all round simply scrumptious. A must visit when you are in Johannesburg.
Keith Reddy

Great food at a great price and also good service. Recommend the masala dosa, tattu dosa, onion uttapam, masala fried fish with Kerala paratha, Butter chicken with the chilli and garlic naan, Chicken Kondattom, Onion Pakodas, South Indian special tea and also the Bombay crush. Generally, everything on the menu is of a high standard for a reasonable price.
A new recent thing I have found is to have the Andra Chicken Starter, but the portion size is huge and has a sort of gravy that makes it like a curry. It is really great value for money with you always having leftovers yet being under the starters section and priced as such as well. Lastly, it is also really really tasty and reminds me of the chicken kondattom but less spicy and with a lot less chillies. Highly recommended.
I have to note that upon my last visit, there was a new menu with some price changes. Of particular note, the mutton bunny price changed from R85 to R115. I love their bunny BUT i cannot in all honesty recommend same at that price. As a Durbanite, who has been eating bunnies all my life, I have never paid (nor should you pay) more than R100 for a quarter bunny chow.

We had a lunch here. Delicious Indian food was served. Pani puri, Masala Dosa, and what not. Lots of varieties. Enjoyed food here.

Frequently visit The Thava in Norwood. Generally very good service, good quality food. Flavourful, authentically Indian cuisine. Spice level is not always consistent – I feel that portion sizes could be bigger for the cost of the meal.

Naseema Mustapha

Always great Indian food, we able love it, even though it’s about 170km alway it’s worth the drive.. please keep it up!!
Nosh Pillay

The food is ok, service is nothing to gloat a out, atmosphere is just ok for you to eat and go. Can’t spend more than an hour there it’s like you are invading their client space
Simphiwe Mkhize

Let’s start off with the area in which the restaurant is based; really dodgy area and with many nyaope boys outside.
Secondly the restaurant has no Aircon , floors are dirty and WC are in a terrible state.
Coming to the food: Taste was okay, but it was way too spicy , not as in hot , but rather spicy.
Chicken tikka had a yellow colour and was so full of spice.
The best part was their garlic naan , hot and fresh.
We ordered mutton karahi and palak paneer.
Bilal Muhammad

The food!!! I don’t remember what my favourite food was before I tasted their food. Portions match the price, if not better. Super5 from me. I stan.

Excellent service and excellent food. You can suggest this place to anyone, they’ll never be disappointed. They prepare the most amazing Tikka. The food is always delicious, whatever you order is good.
Jonathan Govender

Very nice restaurant for some quick and tasty food.
A mixture of grills ,curries and various other items.
Food was good
Service was excellent .
Definitely worth it and will go back again.
Parking was a bit of an issue but it’s okay.
Restaurant is halaal too. Pricing was very good as well.
Uveen Panday

We ordered for collection. So disappointing considering my hubs drove over 40min. The butter chicken was sweet (not what we wanted). I ordered medium mutton curry, I got a mild stew. The portions were ridiculously small for the price we paid. The only enjoyable thing was the Naan bread. Not returning ever again! I just checked other reviews, clearly the place is under new management- don’t waste your money or time on this place, it’s just not the same.
Thato Mametse

I believe I’m somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to a good curry and I’ve frequented Bay Leaf for a number of years. They have never disappointed me or any of my guests and their food is always delicious.
Dean Kara

Ordered takeaway butter chicken, chicken korma and lamb kadai. No Flavour, absolutely bland, couldnt even determine which chicken dish was which – both tasted and looked very far from indian food. Waste of money! Will never eat here again

The food here is always great, spend most of our special occasions here, the owners know us quite well and the prices have remained unchanged since as far back as I remember – try the mixed grill, swop out something you don’t like for something you do, they definitely cater for you
Arshad Majeed

The service from the cashier was fair.
In general there’s room for improvement for the customer experience, especially for those who really don’t know what food items entail on the menu but would like to try something different.
The food was delivered quite fast and hot.
The chicken biryani had whole pieces of chicken, personally I would have preferred chopped pieces.
The chicken tikka was surprisingly nice, with the smoke flavour.
Qhinqangqabutho Thebe

We go for the food and it never disappoints. Keep the standard guys. Thanks for the best butter chicken in Jhb
Angel Waterson

They were very fast and friendly. The food was good and so filling. We had a Quarter Chicken Bunny and a Quarter Mutton Bunny.
Terri Louw

Bismillah on Mint rd is now showing on my Uber app that they deliver in my area Bedfordview. When ordering on the Uber app, a driver could not be found for 30 minutes to except the order. Eventually I had to cancel the order and i was charged the full order amount. If it’s an issue delivering to my area, why is it on the app! I believe this is a gimmick from Bismillah to swindle consumers out of our money. Uber should never allow this!!!!

Decent vegetarian food. Had the cannelloni. Thought it was ok, somewhat bland. Next time I’ll stick to the Indian food. I got some take aways – the curries were excellent. Well priced food. Good service. It was somewhat busy when we went there around 1 on a Sunday afternoon. Parking can be a bit of a mission. The area itself feels dodgey.
Hari swaminathan

I ordered mango Lassi but the taste was a bit different, I asked the waiter about the ingredients and I was a bit surprised as it was made with sour milk and not with real ingredients yougert and milk.
For my meal I ordered big Thali but I was disappointed with the selection of veggies and the dessert was again sour milk something and the salad was also a bit dry.
Previously I had Thali in dubai and it was great but at Shayona is disappointing.
Imran Siddique

Absolutely pathetic service…after ordering in advance still waited for 1 and half hours for our food which was absolutely horrible nothing like what we know the food from Shayona to be like, absolutely disappointimg, a waste of money and time. They have no regard of people’s money or time.
Shabnam Siddik

Pure vegetarian restaurant serving both Italian and traditional Indian cuisine. The food is freshly prepared and full of flavor. As a vegetarian you can have peace of mind and order anything off the menu without hesitation! The restaurant is based on the Swaminarayan following and hence the food served is also prepared without onion and garlic. My favourites you can see in my pic, include the deluxe thali, chip roll and samosas. The decor is homely and the staff are very friendly and eager to assist. There is also an adjoining Indian grocery/ sweetmeat shop. The only downside about this establishment is the location on Church street in Mayfair. Not the safest of areas and parking is extremely limited. Still, if you’re willing to brave that, then you can at least experience yummy food! Oh and they get pretty busy on weekends and hence dont accept bookings so get there soon to avoid long waiting times.

Some of the food is nice. Good for value. Friendly staff. Paneer curry is nice.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Banjaar’s Indian Cuisine, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment i walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a fantastic afternoon. The service was top-notch – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff helped me navigate the extensive menu. And what a menu it is! A perfect blend of traditional Indian dishes and innovative twists. The food was exceptional. Each dish was expertly prepared, presented, and bursting with flavor. The spices were balanced, and the portion sizes were generous.Standout dishes for me included the tender and juicy butter chicken, the rich and creamy palak paneer, and the tandoori chicken. Overall, Banjaar’s Indian Cuisine exceeded my expectations in every way. If you’re craving authentic, delicious Indian food, look no further. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!

I had lunch today with my partner and his parents. We ordered the Naan bread (butter and garlic) and they were divine. We ordered lamb curry, chicken korma, chicken with mint and a seafood curry. Andy, aka Anderson is absolutely brilliant as a waiter. The smile never leaves his face. My reason for returning has everything to do with Andy’s service and care.
Christy Hawyes

Butter chicken – Have been frequenting this restaurant for 6 years. Saturday, 29 March, asked for very mild, got propper hot and spicy. Taste was not the same smooth butter chicken, but grainy with strong coriander taste after the burn settles. Not allowed to order from counter as usual, must wait by the door like Uber drivers… Poor service, terrible cook on duty, runny tummy as result.
Thinus

The lamb mutton chow was bland.. I did ask for mild but I feel it lacked more flavor. Disappointed indeed
Jaclyn Shaw

Service was a bit slow but also we were a large group. Not much for kids in terms of food or a play and had to get food from surround restaurants for the kids. Great Buffett and would want to go back to try other dishes as well.

World of Samoosas seems like a great place for a casual, comforting meal. The friendly service and welcoming atmosphere are sure to make you feel right at home.
I’ve heard excellent things about their selection of samosas, with many praising the unique flavors and generous fillings. They also seem to have a reputation for tasty dips that perfectly complement the samosas.

Customer Reviews
When I was a young boy my parents would always take me here to dine on food that made my mouth water at the mention of it. Even today as a young adult I still find their standards have not failed. However, I do find that their samoosas have not really lived up to that same standard that they used to. Their filling is too little for the magnitude of the samoosa. Despite this, this doesn’t mean that everything else was horrible. The waiters were kind and the place feels comforting for those who’ve had a stressful day. Definitely would recommend it for those who want this to be THE place for their first date .

Those guys know how to make you feel like family…always smiling with the widest variety of samoosa’s I’ve ever seen plus their dip is the game changer. It’s a must if you shopping & the family is getting irritable coz they starving. You guys are tops

Normally LOVE the samoosas and good pricing. However today was the WORST experience ever. Waited over 30 mins for food, had to ask where our drinks were. Tables served before us even though they say and order AFTER us. Makes me wonder if we were the wrong skin tone … Do not support! Very poor service

Prior the samoosas used To be good.
Sadly, the standard has dropped significantly.
The samosas I ordered were salty and extremely dry fried in Old oil.
The samosas were extremely hard , so hard it could Crack a tooth. Probably frozen for too long and old used oil to fry.
Unfortunately, the standards are no longer the same .
The coconut samoosas were rock hard and dry, and the potatoe samoosas were just like potatoes boiled and blant . All samoosas looked good but tasted really bad.
I was disappointed indeed.

As a first time customer, the man at the reception was very kind and helpful. However the waitress was extremely rude, didn’t take down the proper menu. We were seated there for almost an hour before we got a table. The samosas actually made me sick ad I’m allergic to soya and the filling wad mixed with soya and mince. Never again will I patronize House of Samosas or recommend to anyone after my experience
