The worse service ever, you go there people assist you while they busy with their phones, I chose newtown because it’s convenient for me to do collections while at work. But I drive from rosebank every day trying to collect my ID and at this time15:00 there’s still a line outside went there 5 times different time frame since Monday. But always the same result. It’s honestly exhausting.
Those people have no respect for anyone and remain unbothered. Horrible people

I applied for my citizenship by naturalisation under the terms of section 4(3) at the Department of Home Affairs in Harrison (Newtown.) since last year April 2024. I have been going up and down after six months and yet there is no feedback on my approval letter.
I went to Home Affairs in the beginning of January 2025 again and a clerk told me they haven't received any approval letters since January 2024 last year, however I have friends who received their approval letters last year during the year.
Therefore that must mean the woman was lying for some reason which is so unfair, she didn't bother to check or ask, she seemed very disinterested. Please I just want to get my documents right so that I can be officially legal in the country as right now I am stateless.
I have provided all proof that I was born here and raised here. I don't know what else I need to do to get legal here.

What is the point of booking online if we still have to stand in line for hours? There are no toilets or water available, yet we're expected to wait without those basic facilities. Why doesn't the DHA notify us that their branch is closed and that they will be using trucks as a mobile office? The place is filthy and smells of urine, and there are people who openly ask for bribes to get you ahead in the queue. It’s obvious who will be prioritized under these circumstances. This is truly appalling service. I urge everyone not to make a booking at DHA Johannesburg.

I applied for Citizenship earlier this year. I was assisted by Ms Zizo on the 5th floor what a lovely lady. I went to check on the progress in August and was told nothing has moved so far. I just want to know when will the Citizenship applications will be likely to come out. Transport is really an issue since I live so far.
