The Residence hotel

The hotel is in the upscale Houghton area but I still wouldn't feel safe walking around it! |We spent a night in the hotel before flying back to the UK. The hotel’s car picked us up and dropped us off at the airport and the driver efficiently sorted out where to meet our handler. Very impressed with the service.|The hotel has a sizable footprint set in lovely gardens with two swimming pools and other pools with fish and running water. Very relaxing.|We had a suite in the annex which came with its own hot tub and terrace. The suite was spacious and comfortable. The décor is colonial with an eclectic twist, sometime it worked but other times it looked a bit tacky!|We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the well stocked bar and chose local cuisine for our meal which made a nice change and was good to try something more traditional. The price of food is on the steep side compared to where else we stayed.|There was a good choice for breakfast with a cold buffet and hot food to order. |The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only issue was with the safe which malfunctioned but they lent us a key so we could leave our valuables there.|An oasis ideal for a night or two to chill out.

An eclectic hotel with a vintage vibe. Initially, I felt as if I was inside of a plantation especially with the artwork. Nestled in a corner was a painting of Mandela. The outdoor areas are beautiful and tranquil. Our rooms were clean, but the bed was not comfortable. The dining experience varied, some nights it was a 5 star experience other nights the food was filled with oil. The only thing that bothered me was seeing the same servers for breakfast at 7 am and at dinner. One waiter walked into a glass wall, I think from fatigue. I hope the staff is being compensated for overtime. Please tip them. Also, I didn't like that there was no iron in my room. Although I requested my clothes be ironed, they were still wrinkled once brought back. Overall I recommend

My wife and I had the privilege of spending two nights at the Residence Hotel in Jo'burg. Great stay the rooms are unique, comfortable and quiet. The food and hospitality are amazing, and you can't go wrong with w stay here if you're in Jo'burg.

Two nights stay in this amazingly beautiful 'stately home' accommodation. Nothing like a hotel! A lovely surprise round every corner! Excellent food and service by friendly, welcoming staff. Highly recommend in quiet area of Johannessburg.

Really nice hotel. Great family room. Heated pool. Cosy. The massage I has was the best. Definately Come back when we are in Johannesburg.
