I recently had the pleasure of working with TaxAssist and I cannot recommend them highly enough. As a small business owner needing to submit a tax return for the first time, I’ve been very nervous. Another company had quoted me a whopping R6,700 to file my return and insisted that accountants needed to sign off my financial statements. Fortunately, I discovered TaxAssist through Google Reviews and what a relief it has been!
From the moment I contacted TaxAssist, their service was a comfort. They quoted me only R750 per return, which was already a massive saving. When I enquired about whether they also optimise tax returns, they helped me set up a meeting with their CEO, Marius Higgs via their online booking system. Despite booking just half an hour, Marius generously spent a full hour with me, reviewing my financials and offering straightforward, honest advice, completely free of charge! Marius explained that there was no legal requirement for the accounting department to sign off on the returns (although TaxAssist does offer accounting services).
As the submission deadline approached, I received a reminder from SARS about potential penalties for late filing. In a slight panic, I called TaxAssist. Nomonde connected me with Marius, who promptly went online and filed my return. During this process, he discovered that I had mistakenly been filing my payroll under my personal account instead of my company’s. Marius offered to fix it for free and laid out a clear plan to address the issue.
I am thoroughly impressed by the lengths TaxAssist goes to in order to help small businesses like mine, especially those of us who are strapped for cash and rather inexperienced. Their willingness to go the extra mile and genuinely offer assistance speaks volumes about the kind of relationships they aim to build.
Another noteworthy point is their incredibly efficient system. Everything—submitting documents, signing mandates, requesting returns to be filed—can be done digitally. I didn’t have to print or scan a single document. I didn’t even have to make a digital printout of my company’s financial statements: Marius accessed my accounting app and did that for me. It’s evident that their streamlined processes enable them to provide top-tier service, as they aren’t bogged down by tedious admin work.
All in all, I am beyond grateful to have found TaxAssist. To Marius and the entire team: thank you for your outstanding service, genuine support, and expert advice. You’ve built a company that truly helps and fosters long-term relationships.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would!
This company is nothing but a scam designed to take your money. They sell you a plan and don’t bother to explain the countless exclusions not even when they find out the breed of your dog. I signed up last year in February for my first pup and again in September for my second. So far, I’ve paid them R5,843.04, and the total payout from them has been a pathetic R350.00. Meanwhile, I’ve had to cover a staggering R30,203.00 in my own vet bills because of their endless exclusions and ridiculous clauses.
When I tried to cancel my plan, the consultant didn’t listen to a word I said and instead tried to push me into buying a new and more expensive plan. After I explained why I wanted to cancel, he had the audacity to tell me I could only cancel on the 1st of the month, forcing me to pay for another month of insurance I do not wanted. I requested the cancellation on the 3rd, and not once did they show any flexibility. Given how furious I am with this company, you’d think they might offer me a two-day grace period—but of course, they didn’t.
For a company that claims to offer “peace of mind” for your pets, they show zero compassion, ethics, or basic decency. They don’t care about anything except taking your money. Absolutely disgusting!

If I could give negative stars I would! The most disgusting service, especially from Michelle the manager. They up their premiums whenever they want. When I call to find out about the pricing no one calls me back, they say I just need to pay and not ask questions. Their premiums went up by more than 20% this year and no one can give me answers. I’ve been a loyal paying customer since 2017, and now when I question their pricing they cancel my policy. Please everyone be aware of this scam! They are extremely quick to take your money, but when you need them they seem to disappear. Michelle, it’s been 3 weeks and I’m still waiting for you to call back. Absolutely disgusting!

I see the Absa building but the art on the walkway and driveway , some people are really talented out there we should give credit to them.like it’s a story of how technology evolution worked.the house theories,telephone, and etc , otherwise it is a very big building main branch in the CBD and the building itself is a master piece of engineers and so is the business.there are securities who surround the place and the transport is always at a peak l advice all drivers to be patient as the roads get busy.i wish l could say more but as l was still seeking to understand how l can tell the world about this famous Tower we were chased away by a security guard telling us to go inside and ask for permission to take pictures.im assuming it’s a security feature as people plot heists and we said on another day for now this is all l have and l hope the images help your view. We have now been with the Beancounter for 9 months. To summarise the experience has been a series of overpromising and underdelivering ending up in what I consider highly unethical.
The payroll department is absolutely pathetic from day one and the accounting department has given us problems upon problems. From reports that were never sent to us to MMAs and AFS that are wrong.
Bad accounting causing overpayments to SARS (which is exactly what accountants are supposed to prevent – especially considering how overpriced the Beancounter is) and my inhouse (NOT ACCOUNTANTS) ladies fixing the Beancounter’s mess ups for 9 months straight.
We have tried to terminate 3 times and every time they begged us to let them prove themselves and then it looks better for a day or two and then all of that is null and void when the work they provide is again faulty or they AGAIN ask for information that they have had access to the entire time.
Waldo, the CEO sold us on a service that was simply not delivered. They just want your money and don’t actually care about your business.
If you are considering becoming a client, one word of advice…. RUN! Very, very fast. Happy to elaborate 🙂

Shocking Online Support from FNB – Not What You Expect from Private Wealth
As a Private Wealth client, I expect a certain standard of service – but FNB’s online help is absolutely shocking. I waited over 40 minutes just to get a response on their messaging app, only to receive unclear, frustrating replies from someone who didn’t seem to fully understand English.
It’s unbelievable that a premium banking tier comes with such poor support. Slow response times, lack of clarity, and no real resolution – it’s a far cry from the level of service Private Wealth clients are promised.
FNB needs to seriously relook their online support structure. This is not just disappointing – it’s unacceptable.

FNB have put energy into making this precinct that connects to many popular streets in Joburg CBD like Diagonal Street, Bree Street, Kerk Street, Jeppe Street and the Simmonds Street which all have Street markets and great little shops. Bank City has amazing Food Lovers Market Eatery with meals, banked goods, grab and go lunch items, fruit and veggies. There is also Happy Me coffee place and many other shops, doctors rooms, hair salons, florist and FNB atms all around the fountain and staff zen garden. There is a meridian line that you can take a selfie at. In an era of gentrification in big cities, I love that there are lots of spaces for the public to sit at and soak in the great weather and colours.
