If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would!

This company is nothing but a scam designed to take your money. They sell you a plan and don’t bother to explain the countless exclusions not even when they find out the breed of your dog. I signed up last year in February for my first pup and again in September for my second. So far, I’ve paid them R5,843.04, and the total payout from them has been a pathetic R350.00. Meanwhile, I’ve had to cover a staggering R30,203.00 in my own vet bills because of their endless exclusions and ridiculous clauses.

When I tried to cancel my plan, the consultant didn’t listen to a word I said and instead tried to push me into buying a new and more expensive plan. After I explained why I wanted to cancel, he had the audacity to tell me I could only cancel on the 1st of the month, forcing me to pay for another month of insurance I do not wanted. I requested the cancellation on the 3rd, and not once did they show any flexibility. Given how furious I am with this company, you’d think they might offer me a two-day grace period—but of course, they didn’t.

For a company that claims to offer “peace of mind” for your pets, they show zero compassion, ethics, or basic decency. They don’t care about anything except taking your money. Absolutely disgusting!

If I could give negative stars I would! The most disgusting service, especially from Michelle the manager. They up their premiums whenever they want. When I call to find out about the pricing no one calls me back, they say I just need to pay and not ask questions. Their premiums went up by more than 20% this year and no one can give me answers. I’ve been a loyal paying customer since 2017, and now when I question their pricing they cancel my policy. Please everyone be aware of this scam! They are extremely quick to take your money, but when you need them they seem to disappear. Michelle, it’s been 3 weeks and I’m still waiting for you to call back. Absolutely disgusting!

All I can say is Wow, wow, wow!! Truly amazing service. Bought a car for my son. Took out insurance within 2 minutes. Very competitive premium. Premium was deducted. Car was faulty and had to be returned to dealer. I canceled the cover today. Tonight I received a pro rata refund email and refund. This without having to request the refund. Again, great, easy and efficient service. Would definitely make use of them again!

I have been with Naked I think for 3 to 5 years I cannot recall 100% When I joined with them. I insured a Renault kwid with them and when we started I think the premium was R700 with access of R5000. 2 years ago they sent me an email, they do not call, they just send an email with a note for increase. I think it went to R1000, it increased again to R1100. I phoned the agents, they told me nothing can be done. This week I receive another email, they want to increase the premium to R1300 with access of R8000, I won’t even bother calling because they will tell you about parts and what not. Mind you this is a 2017 kwid with 200 000km!!. I just felt like this company is becoming greedy and does not take care of old clients and I only made 1 windscreen claim which i paid R1000 for access. Its disappointing. If i stay with them I will end up paying R5000 for kwid premium and acess above car value. They are doing well with new clients but old clients suffer with premiums and access

I have been waiting 2 weeks for an outcome on a claim submitted for damages to my ceiling. My broker battled to get hold of anyone in claims and when they did they just told them that there is a backlog with claims. Why would that be my problem? I tried calling myself with no luck at all. Hollard took my insurance premiums for 7 years. When hail damaged my property, the were quick to reject a significant portion of my claim and shockingly claimed that the hail damage was caused by wear and tear.

This after, there was a clear and observable damage to the building. This has truly left a bitter taste in the mouth. I believe that they are not trustworthy.

I challenged the decision even through dispute channels inside the company but was rejected. The insurance ombudsman rubber stamped their view even after displaying to them through qualified engineers reports.

*If you read this review and continue to get Hollard as your insurance company, they will reveal themselves to you when it’s time to claim and don’t cry to anyone else.*

Also payouts on a re-advance takes extremely long like liberty doesnt care about the wellbeing of you the customer. Life goes on after Covid. I got an iphone 8 plus in 2020 and insured it with Granadilla. In 2025 February my phone was lost. Not only did they harass me but even my friend was harassed by Bryte and Granadilla. They wanted a lot of documents and put me through a lengthy investigation. I had to submit proof of purchase or contract, something I had already submitted when I insured the phone with them but i was happy to provide it to them. I had to do a video explaining what transpired the day the phone was lost. I was given so many runarounds but i was still cooperative, after I had submitted everything required by Granadilla and Bryte I was asked to advise who Alberto Gracinda is, I advised them I don’t know the person. I was later told that they need to investigate further since I don’t know this person who supposedly blocked the phone. By the way, my phone was blocked at vodacom by a xhosa man in the Eastern Cape, I did not get his name though. A forensic company contacted me and interrogated me, after he asked for my friend’s number and she was also interrogated(My friend was not even with me when my phone was lost). Mind you when I took the insurance with Granadilla I was made to believe that this is a hassle free online insurance, the energy changes when its time to claim. when the claim was finally approved, I was told they are offering a refurbished iphone 8 plus, mind you my phone was brand new when I insured it with them(Other customers have also mentioned that they have received phones from Takealot). It was also insured for the value of R14000 since 2020, I was told by Noluthando from Bryte that they don’t pay for the value that is on the renewal contract every year. When the value of the phone declines I am supposed to advise Bryte, all along I have been paying Bryte and Granadilla R275. So basically, I was donating money to Bryte and they wouldn’t reimburse me the extra that I had been paying for so many years. If you are with Bryte or Granadilla, I would advise anyone to change it now before anything happens to you and you need to claim. The last thing you need when you lose your valuables is this type of service from your insurance.

All these negative reviews??? Let me just add my 2 cents here. I owned a Honda for about 9 years and have had Motorite Cover for as long as I’ve had the car. Drove it from around 80 000km to 360 000km. We did alot of long distance weekend family road trips and during the entire time that I’ve had cover with Motorite, they’ve always honoured claims and were always willing to assist with clarity on anything. In fact, for the most part, I did not even need to call them as either Honda or Steve’s would sort things out with them. I would just book my car in, get dropped at home or work and they’d fetch me the afternoon. All the workshop would ask is if I have cover and I’d say Motorite. Done. Car would get sorted and I wouldn’t have to lift a finger or anything. They really made owning a car enjoyable. Thank you Motorite.

Last year end of June I renewed my service plan and took out a service plan for my wife’s vehicle too. July they deducted on the first and on the end of July. I told the person assisting me that I get paid on the last day of the month so I would like the debit to go off on the last day that I get paid. In December I booked my wife’s vehicle for service at Honda. Her car stood there the whole day not being serviced, only to find out that motorite debited two installments the day before I got paid so the debits didn’t go through. I felt so embarrassed plus the inconvenience of having the car stand there the whole day when we needed it. End of December they again debited the day before I get paid and now again I got a notification that they debited when I’m getting paid tomorrow. It seems to me like they deliberately debit the day before I get paid to not cover both vehicles for service. I have been debited for the seventh month now today and still we can service our vehicles. I’m strongly advising anyone to not take out any plan with motorite. I’m taking them to the ombudsman tomorrow morning!

Financial Advisors are quick to to react when yo want to buy a policy. Then they are all over you, following up and advising and doing all the things that require doing. But when you want to withdraw money, then you can wait until it suits them to help you, if they help you at all. And as for your call centre agents, they really need to be trained on how to deal with customers who are already agro that no one is getting back to them, as opposed to making it worse. I have been with Liberty since I started investing in my retirement. This is not how I expect to be treated now that I want to investigate my retirement withdrawal options.

After several calls and email…still no help…holding for 15min+ only to be told by consultant that they don’t have access to read the emails from underwriters. Same kind of feedback through the months. Only thing to do is cancel the policy. If I have such trouble getting information from them…imagine my kids trying to claim after my death??? Exorbitant charges and misleading advice. I decreased the debit order and called into the customer support centre and they charged me “activity fees” and “withdrawal fees” for decreasing the debit order. What is an activity fee? How is it justified? Are basic services such as answering my questions about my money and having autonomy over my monthly expenses worthy of the +-R3000 fee?
The person servicing me said it would incur the least penalty to decrease the debit order and it still incurred a fee. Got this product because the financial advisor told me to–he did not explain the extra fees. He said we could stop the debit order should I decide it does not align with my goals. What’s more, the platform is buggy. Here’s my advice for anyone who reads this review: take your money and invest it somewhere else, even placing it in a money market account will likely give you less hassle.

Refused entry from security, which would be fine if they allowed turn-around but they insisted several vehicles must reverse into an intersection through a red robot. I have had the most horrifying experience with Old Mutual and their customer service. Since October of last year, I have been trying to withdraw my funds, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. For months, I’ve been subjected to endless delays, vague explanations, and a complete lack of accountability.

Despite my repeated efforts to resolve this matter, I have been given nothing but excuses and a constant runaround. This is not just inconvenient; it’s deeply unprofessional and unacceptable for a company entrusted with managing people’s hard-earned money.

The lack of urgency and transparency from Old Mutual has caused me significant distress, and I am beyond frustrated with the way this situation has been handled. I demand immediate action to resolve this matter.

I request to be contacted within 24 hours to finalize my withdrawal. If this issue is not addressed promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter further through legal or regulatory channels.

Your customers deserve better, and it’s high time Old Mutual starts delivering the service it claims to stand for.

I am highly disappointed with Old Mutual in the way they handle their claims, more especially two of their employees Prunella Naidoo, and Koketso Lebelo, regarding the final settlements of my claim.

My vehicle was in an accident on the 7th of May, and OM had my vehicle Towed by Help24, even though I requested to get it Towed to my house(5 minute drive from the accident site), after much delay and follow up, eventually it was assessed.

My vehicle was written off, and I was requested to sign over the vehicle & submit ownership documents without even receiving my salvage value or being informed about a buy back.
I requested the salvage value & buy back myself and a settlement value was reached and signed on.

Now almost two weeks later, with constant enquiry and follow ups they refuse to have my vehicle released from Help24, and have terminated my car hire, (which according to my policy allows for up to 60 days of car hire) and expect me to be stranded, and additionally pay for keeping the car hire, even though they’ve left me no choice.

They are insistent that the claim is settled, when I opted for a buy back, even though my vehicle has not been released to me.

I have followed up for the past week & a half to have my vehicle release, and majority of my emails were ignored, until I had included the OM complaints email.

Last Thursday I had complaint yet again, and was told that my claim was settled the previous day when in fact it was not, and upon requesting proof of payment again, it showed that the payment for the balance of the salvage was only paid the Thursday after the call.

I once again followed up regarding my vehicle release, and since last Thursday, payment had still not been processed by Koketso in the Towing department.

Who since the 3rd of June still did not give me in update if the payment was made and my vehicle released.

The complaints department has been of no help either, as nothing has been done to rectify the situation, even when I, as well as my broker contact Old Mutual.

Horrible management, as none of the managers/ supervisors have intervened or assisted us when their employees do not assist, and complaints are raised.

I was additionally still billed my premium, after the vehicle was declared a write off, and when enquiring to 8 employees via email about a refund, was flat out ignored regarding the refund.

Worst car insurance company, do not insure with this company, rather opt for a more expensive company than this, at least you will receive proper service.
