My experience at the Melrose branch with their staff has been extremely disappointing. The staff show little to no regard for maintaining the confidentiality of personal information, which is a clear violation of the requirements set out in the POPIA Act, and frankly should be reported. Their attitude towards assisting customers—especially when dealing with lost or stolen items—is indifferent at best. For the premium prices charged, the service is severely lacking. Proper training in customer service and data protection is urgently needed. I expected far better.

I have been inquiring over a week about transferring to another club. The staff don’t have a define answer on the process and I havent gotten a response on the customer support in which they told me to log a ticket. Did this twice. Extremely disappointed.

It’s now been over a month with little to no communication from the branch manager. On the 3rd of Feb, I finally got a response back from Jennifer saying that my request has been escalated to Head Office and she will provide me with updates. The treatment of customers is appalling, and I regret choosing this as my gym of choice.

With no doubt, the coolest and one of the most professional gym I’ve ever seen so far in the world.
All the spaces are huge, luminous equipped with with the newest machines and smartly organised.
Several distinct areas equipped to exercise the different muscles groups, as an area dedicated to cardio, one to spinning and one for crossfit.
They have a studio dedicated for fitness and another hall dedicated to boxing and kickboxing, ring furnished.
Changing rooms are clean, huge and lockers provided.
The club is furnished as well with a huge kids club, a cafeteria and there is the possibility to have two hours of parking provided.
Last but not least, staff is super friendly, professional and prompt to attend all your needs…thanks for registering me so quickly….

Reply to the owner: You’re clearly not aware of what is and isn’t working at your gym. It has not been working for quite a while. Spoke to the manager who said it will be fixed. Called today for an update and they advised that it’s not yet been repaired.

Also please see attached pictures of your “100% working sauna”. These images were not taken soon after loadshedding so that is not a factor.

In the year that I have been training here, coaches Ed and Dylan have done a fantastic job of meeting me where I’m at (unrepentant desk jockey with a core made of sponge pudding) and helping me to develop my strength and endurance in a way that has been scalable and safe every step of the way. The community is also awesome (especially the 6:30am class ), and the facilities are top-notch. Ask about the trial week and drop in for a couple of classes – easy peasy.

This place is amazing. I am fairly new to crossfit and love it. Much has to do with the coaches, the environment they create, and the facility itself.
The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and really listen to differences as required by each person. I have received valuable pointers and instruction when it comes to form, technique and more. Further, the encouragement from both coaches and other people in the class makes it even more enjoyable.

Overall, the environment that they have created is very much like a community. It is nothing that I have experienced at other places I have been and that is what makes this place stand out from the rest.

This gym is a godsend! I decided to try them out last year because it is close to my daughters school, I have been hooked ever since. There is a variety of different workouts (CrossFit, HIIT, kickboxing, boxing..etc.) you can attend so it never gets boring, and I mean NEVER! At the same time, the trainers are strong, capable and push you just the right amount so, I have seen fantastic results. The ambience at the gym is another favorite of mine. Unlike most gym where you feel like you are inside a shoebox, this gym is beautifully green, has a open and airy set up – just the perfect way to start my mornings. For the first time ever, I actually look forward to my workouts. I’m loving it and will definitely continue for as long as I reside in Johannesburg! You should try them out, I’m sure you’ll love it.

This is a great gym, whether you’re super fit, or a certified couch potato. The team is incredibly helpful and noticed right away I was new and came to assist me. They took the time to make sure I was comfortable and knew how to do each movement properly, even though I had no idea what I was doing.

Paulo is an amazing leader, very accomodating, treats you with respect, goes the extra mile to get you settled in. The gym members are also awesome, very friendly and welcoming. The best gym I have every been to! Everyday there is a new and exciting session, which has been purposefully & thoughtfully put together. The staff at Burnside are encouraging, motivating and super friendly. The community that has been created at this gym is awesome!
