I recently had the pleasure of working with TaxAssist and I cannot recommend them highly enough. As a small business owner needing to submit a tax return for the first time, I’ve been very nervous. Another company had quoted me a whopping R6,700 to file my return and insisted that accountants needed to sign off my financial statements. Fortunately, I discovered TaxAssist through Google Reviews and what a relief it has been!
From the moment I contacted TaxAssist, their service was a comfort. They quoted me only R750 per return, which was already a massive saving. When I enquired about whether they also optimise tax returns, they helped me set up a meeting with their CEO, Marius Higgs via their online booking system. Despite booking just half an hour, Marius generously spent a full hour with me, reviewing my financials and offering straightforward, honest advice, completely free of charge! Marius explained that there was no legal requirement for the accounting department to sign off on the returns (although TaxAssist does offer accounting services).
As the submission deadline approached, I received a reminder from SARS about potential penalties for late filing. In a slight panic, I called TaxAssist. Nomonde connected me with Marius, who promptly went online and filed my return. During this process, he discovered that I had mistakenly been filing my payroll under my personal account instead of my company’s. Marius offered to fix it for free and laid out a clear plan to address the issue.
I am thoroughly impressed by the lengths TaxAssist goes to in order to help small businesses like mine, especially those of us who are strapped for cash and rather inexperienced. Their willingness to go the extra mile and genuinely offer assistance speaks volumes about the kind of relationships they aim to build.
Another noteworthy point is their incredibly efficient system. Everything—submitting documents, signing mandates, requesting returns to be filed—can be done digitally. I didn’t have to print or scan a single document. I didn’t even have to make a digital printout of my company’s financial statements: Marius accessed my accounting app and did that for me. It’s evident that their streamlined processes enable them to provide top-tier service, as they aren’t bogged down by tedious admin work.
All in all, I am beyond grateful to have found TaxAssist. To Marius and the entire team: thank you for your outstanding service, genuine support, and expert advice. You’ve built a company that truly helps and fosters long-term relationships.

What ever you DO be very careful in dealing with these attorneys, especially if you are a buyer, we paid over R170 000 in transfer fees, and they were only interested in representing the seller. terrible service. incredibly terrible service. We had to spend over R69 000 to fix defects which was not disclosed, and then the money which was put in trust, well that ended up being a problem as well. Just be careful.

Massively disappointed. I asked for assistance in making a payment arrangement and was told I have to do it myself. REALLY. What srrvice am I paying for. Paying R4000 a year for someone to do my tax return with no further assistance Waiting for 2 months for my issues to be resolved. E mailed the consultant dealing with my case. Promised to assist and call back. I’m still waiting for that phone call. Spoke to someone from their customers service department in December who promised to get someone to assist. She told me I would have to wait 2 days because they were having their Christmas party. I’m still waiting for that follow up call s month later. Going to cancel my membership. Would not use again.
We used Schindlers to sell a property:
1. They are not always clear when they perform services and what the additional charges are. We were surprised as we only saw this once we got their final statement.
2. Rates refunds from the Municipality – municipality refunded amounts back to the attorney’s account (which Schindlers confirmed they received), but has then taken three and a half weeks (and counting) to pay back. Emails querying timelines are usually unanswered.

Worst experience using this law firm when purchasing our house. If you are working with someone called “Gina”, RUN.
She was unprofessional, incompetent and borderline incomprehensible at times. When going through the process of paying our deposit, I received the attached communications from Gina demanding payment. As the payment was a considerable amount of money and this was supposed to be a professional law firm, I expected more than WhatsApp messages in broken English from a stranger I’d never heard from before. Especially because we were advised (by Schindlers themselves, no less) that there was a high risk of fraud in the transfer process. When trying to call Schindlers, she would be “busy” and unable to come to the phone when we were trying to resolve the issue.
In addition, when coming in to sign the papers, there were multiple issues/errors in the documents that my husband and I luckily picked up before signing. There were never ending delays in our transfer. As the buyers, we had to push almost every week for an update and reasons as to why there was little to no movement in the process.

Putrid service
Schindlers service was absolutely poor. They don’t respond to emails. They actually made the transfer process of my house, very uneasy and disappointing.
Apart from the sellers being difficult. Schindlers made the process even worse, by wanting to pull our registration out of the deeds office and delay the transfer of our house.
Note to future home buyers: Do not take transfers attorney recommendations from your realtor.
Our realtor gave us the worst suggestion which was Schindlers.
