I suffered for years with undiagnosed bladder pain and irritation. Dr Reddy was the first to diagnose me with (and educate me about!) interstitial cystitis. She was more than just an amazing doctor, she became an empathetic and supportive friend. She would always make a plan to squeeze me in when I had a flair and check up on me when I wasn’t well.
I have now been about 2 years without a flair. I don’t miss them but I sure miss seeing Dr Reddy as often as I did!

My husband and I went to see Dr KS Fisher after 3 months of trying to conceive & 1 miscarriage. The request was for a sperm test.
He was so condescending towards me asking me why I’m in such a rush to fall pregnant (which I wasn’t); said a sperm test is a waste of time and money and would take 3 months by which time I would be pregnant. That there is nothing wrong with him as he has got me pregnant before and bad sperm cannot fertilise an egg so he isn’t the reason for my miscarriage (which I didn’t even suggest by the way).
First of all, 8 months later I’m still not pregnant and am at miscarriage number 3. I have spent R12K trying to figure out what is wrong with ME as the woman because of what he had implied.
We went to see another doctor who said he is completely wrong about bad sperm not fertilizing an egg and causing a miscarriage – 1/3 miscarriages are caused by “bad sperm”.
We finally did a sperm test. Dr KS Fisher wasted 8 months of my life and a lot of heart ache because of how he was towards us and our family planning because it turns out the problem is not me but is in fact his spent! A problem that is easily solved!

They couldn’t get hold of him for a very long time his phone went straight to voicemail, how do you not check in with your patient post opp and his attending nurse did not even check on his wounds we made her and the others aware of the infection and eventually Sunday evening the Dr came only because we were persistent.
His infection markers are very high I called his rooms and the receptionist said she’d ask the Dr to get back to me on concerns I had this was around 12 it is now almost 2 and she hasn’t gotten back to me even after I called for a second time.
My husband is currently at risk of kidney failure due to this infection and had we not noticed none of them would have known about the infection, before 7pm Sunday night the infection caused vomiting and shivering.
Yes there may be a wait to get an appointment
And U might wait in his office
Always remember to drink lots of water when U get there
But his level of care is amazing .
Dr takes his time listening to the patient and does all his tests timeously .
He then provides a course of action and follows up with the next steps in time.

I asked if he could check me out as something “looked” amiss when i went to the toilet. Really had to beg him to examine me as he said he would check me out on my two week follow up in his rooms (but when trying to make that booking, he was on leave) I forced the issue and he begrudgingly took a look and discovered that the bandages were still inside me, i guess blocking the catheter? And then unspeakable treatment at my follow up! There was also a procedure that he had discussed with me that he was going to do and he didnt do that either! There has been no improvement in my symptoms whatsoever. Arrogance in the extreme and completely unethical. I spoke to the hospital manager to share my experience and he apologised for my experience. He said he could arrange a second opinion , and suggested that I could report him to the HPCSA. That spoke volumes to me!

Instructed nurses not to give me any food or drink from 10pm I “may need surgery” for a 3mm kidney stone. I had not had anything to eat from 12pm that day already.
By the next morning I was so dehydrated my lips were cracked and bleeding and I could not even stand. Again it was said to me that I will be informed whether I’d need surgery by 10/11am.
By 8am I was given anesthesia forms to sign and a hospital gown when I had not even seen this Dr as yet.
I understand that nurses follow drs orders but there was no information regarding what was going to be the course of treatment.
Ironically the sisters were ever so ready to carry out drs orders but weren’t there to assist dizzy patients who fell in the bathroom or to assist when patients were vomiting.
When I asked to be discharged as they had not communicated course of treatment nor received consent for treatment that they insisted on, I was told the Dr will be very upset with me for what I’m doing. WTH? I kept hearing different stories yet the Dr who treated me in casualty and the Dr who performed my sonar said the stone should manage to pass on it’s own with enough fluid (which was withheld). I then asked around and looked at reviews and obviously was not going ahead with treatment without a mere consult and based on reviews it was a no go for me One of the nurses even mentioned that the surgery needed to be done just in case as the Dr needed to go on holiday???
Very sketchy treatment received at Robinson Hospital on instructions from the Dr. I left extremely dehydrated and feeling worse than when I got there.
I called his office to ask if I needed to have a follow up check up as one of the nurses advised to go there after two weeks and the receptionist gave me a date for a month from date of surgery and didn’t even have a single care in the world…
Dr Knoesen has no patient after care… I really hope this procedure worked because I have no freaking clue what’s to happen now…
This was by far the worse experience I have ever had with a doctor.
I went for a procedure, arriving at the hospital I was told I would be at going in at 10:00 but was only taken in at 15:00, I was taken to surgery not even meeting with the doctor before hand, was put under general anesthetic (they told me was going to be local anesthetic).
After my surgery the doctor never came to check up on me to tell me how it went, after getting dressed a nurse told me to make an appointment with the doc after 3 weeks, once I got home and rested I called Dr Knoesen offices only to be told the doctor doesn’t want to see me.
I don’t even know if the procedure was a success.
It’s been 3 weeks since my procedure and I’m in alot of pain, I don’t think I’ll go to a Dr with no patient care but will rather call Discovery to voice my concerns and find a real Urologist.
