I see the Absa building but the art on the walkway and driveway , some people are really talented out there we should give credit to them.like it’s a story of how technology evolution worked.the house theories, telephone, and etc , otherwise it is a very big building main branch in the CBD and the building itself is a master piece of engineers and so is the business.there are securities who surround the place and the transport is always at a peak l advice all drivers to be patient as the roads get busy.i wish l could say more but as l was still seeking to understand how l can tell the world about this famous Tower we were chased away by a security guard telling us to go inside and ask for permission to take pictures.im assuming it’s a security feature as people plot heists and we said on another day for now this is all l have and l hope the images help your view. Great day my fellow brethrens.remember to drive safely a stranger told us they get busy when there is traffic that’s when they hijack so please keep your cars locked and drive with faith and full safety.there is more to live for than die for your money.appreciate nature find the good in bad.

Shocking Online Support from FNB – Not What You Expect from Private Wealth

As a Private Wealth client, I expect a certain standard of service – but FNB’s online help is absolutely shocking. I waited over 40 minutes just to get a response on their messaging app, only to receive unclear, frustrating replies from someone who didn’t seem to fully understand English.

It’s unbelievable that a premium banking tier comes with such poor support. Slow response times, lack of clarity, and no real resolution – it’s a far cry from the level of service Private Wealth clients are promised.

FNB needs to seriously relook their online support structure. This is not just disappointing – it’s unacceptable.

Not really sure where to drop this complaint but it’s regarding your ebucks rewards system only this time I wanted to use the funds to purchase power. I can’t help to notice ever since ebucks partnered with Pick n Pay the ebucks systems keeps crashing. Its there really nothing yall can do about this??? See here this example:

Each year your Ebucks rewards decease. The latest abomination is ending Checkers benefits. Are you trying everything possible to chase away FNB clients?? Grocery benefits decrease while useless Kauai benefits and bad coffee continue. We will be closing all our FNB accounts and removing FNB from our company provider list. Maybe you will start to care about your clients when you lose them..

FNB have put energy into making this precinct that connects to many popular streets in Joburg CBD like Diagonal Street, Bree Street, Kerk Street, Jeppe Street and the Simmonds Street which all have Street markets and great little shops. Bank City has amazing Food Lovers Market Eatery with meals, banked goods, grab and go lunch items, fruit and veggies. There is also Happy Me coffee place and many other shops, doctors rooms, hair salons, florist and FNB atms all around the fountain and staff zen garden. There is a meridian line that you can take a selfie at. In an era of gentrification in big cities, I love that there are lots of spaces for the public to sit at and soak in the great weather and colours.

IN 2023, MYSELF AND MY SPOUSE WENT INTO THE FNB BRANCH AT SUNWARDPARK. I TOLD THEM TO GIVE MY WIFE 100% POWER OF ATTORNEY ON ALL MY FNB STUFF. NOW EVERYTHING IS A HASSLE MY BANK IS BLOCKED DUE TO SOMEONE ELSE TRYING TO PURCHASE STUFF ONLINE AND BLOCKING EVERYTHING FROM MY ONLINE BANKING TO MY APP. I’M HIGHLY DISCUSSED WITH THE SERVICES. AS WE TOLD THEM AT THE BRANCH I WON’T BE AVAILABLE TO DO THINGS MYSELF AS I’M NOT IN SA AND MY WIFE HAS TO SORT EVERYTHING. IF A PROBLEM COMES TO LIGHT. NOW THEY CAN’T EVEN ASSIST HER WITH A BASIC CARD DELIVERY AFTER GOING INTO TO BRANCH AND CONTACTING MULTIPLE TIME.

Mukuru Hillbrow i dont even know where to begin.
Website says open 8.30 but we waited until 9.15 for doors to open we stood in the line for almost 3 hours its now 11.32 still outside we havent been helped at all.
The main reason is that we have someone selling line positions together with security on duty.

Please kindly sort this out mukuru we cant be waking up to hold queues while others just come pay and get service while we stand outside.

What is the point then of queuing if you ca just buy the position and be first to be helped why not just add ob the website that positions are sold so that we know and collect from others branches

Im highly disappointed with mukuru head office in johannesburg power house they are not professional they refused to give me my money because my passport expired in jeunary this year 2025 but other bank here in south Africa are still helping in case like collecting your money or deposit now I understand why it’s not easy to be a Zimbabwean using a bank of other Zimbabwean. I came all the way from vereeniging to johannesburg without money to come back hoping I will collect my money even if my passport expired but the fact that I want there in person so I can’t get my money so I can use it to renew my passport they refused and again there are not professional they ask you to go and get help from agents who are setting outside, and those agents they don’t have privacy they ask your personal information and the problem you are having I front of public lessing to our conversations, I was followed by a stranger who has been lessing to our conversation outside mukuru office he was now offering to help me asking me to send him my money in he’s account so I can collect it. Where is the safety of your clients mukuru if you are now treating us like this at your offices I want to know who is the owner of mukuru and why is he so ignorant to this point if his agents treating us like this

Today between 14h50 and 15h20 I was doing a cash deposit at Capitec Rosebank Branch just after putting in the money immediately the ATM machine popped a out of service error message and gave me back my card, but then the deposit transaction didn’t go through I couldn’t get my money and it didn’t appear on my account. I called they line that moment it’s not a toll free. The agent was rude and didn’t know what could have caused the problem.

I went to Rosebank Capitec Bank on Tuesday, the 30th of April. I was attended to by a consultant in teller number 8, who was chewing gum in a loud and distracting manner. The constant smacking and chewing sounds were not only annoying but also unprofessional.

I kindly request that the management address this issue and advise staff members to refrain from eating chew gum while serving customers. This would greatly improve the overall customer experience and maintain a professional atmosphere in the bank.

I gave a 4 star because the service was good and the consultant was friendly – but the chew gum . Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Went in yesterday because of a faulty card chip and was told to bring it in for a replacement, as without the card I would be charged a card replacement fee. Was there this morning with the faulty card and was told I will still have to pay the card replacement fee even though the card was not damaged and was only in use for less than 2 years. The service’s is good and the facilities are all up to date and working. This would have been a 5 star review if not for the above.

Extremely slow and painful. Most banks I go to take 20 min max to engage with a consultant. Every time I come to this bank i am guaranteed to wait a minimum of an hour and a half. Been like this years! Every time I come I assume they would resolve their service issues, they function exactly as they did before.

I don’t understand how standard bank allows for one of their branches to be run in such a haphazard manner. There was literally only me in the line and yet I still had to wait so long to be assisted while you here staff laughing and giggling. . . They are as inefficient as home affairs. I hate coming into the branches

So during my lunch time I go to just change my cell number on my banking, on arrival I’m asked what I was needing and then told to go take a seat, not told I need my ID book….. I sit for 45 minutes by now I’ve already passed my lunch time, I’m finally called by a consultant sit down, I’m made to do finger prints, then he says let me go find out, you might need your ID, even though I have my driver’s with me and I’ve banked with them for more than 20years, the same branch….he comes back says sorry can’t help you.
My mistake not taking my ID but why was I not qualified at the door, and told I need my ID before I sat and waited. Not happy with the service at all. Can’t even change a cellphone number, something that should be simple and quick.

I recently visited Standard Bank’s Rosebank branch to collect my bank card, and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The process of obtaining my card was incredibly easy, and what stood out even more was the exceptional level of friendliness displayed by the staff. They went out of their way to make me feel welcomed and at ease, creating an atmosphere that truly felt like home. This kind of customer service is rare and greatly appreciated. Kudos to Morongoa who assisted me and the team at the Rosebank branch for their outstanding service!

If I could rate this branch as a -1 I would. It has taken 2 weeks for my simple query to be addressed and resolved but I am still at step 1. I’ve visited the branch 3 times now with all of the agents who I had dealt with promising me to call or email me the following day. After reading the comments and reviews on the Rosebank branch, is anyone in Standard Bank management actually dealing with the poor service delivery??????

Pathetic service, over 13 cubicles, with only 3 consultants on duty. 1st visit waited for over 2 hours to not have our concerns addressed.
2nd visit took an hour to open an account, 3rd visit came to collect a new card only to wait another hour with only 3 people ahead in the queue to not be served, and have to return on another day.
Absolutely useless

Unimpressive service. The bank is of the opinion the public should accommodate them instead of the bank going out of its way to accommodate its clients. Told to come in at 10am to collect forex, and no one is assisting and helping move the queue.

It’s been a stressful week in our household. Normally I’m not one to do this, but in light of recent events, maybe, just maybe it will help others.

On the 1st of April, my father’s Nedbank account was debited for R38500. Immediately, my father reported this as fraudulent and went to Nedbank Greenstone Mall to sort it out. Imagine his surprise when no manager was available at the branch, but he was told by tellers that it will be resolved in 24 hours.

Then, on the 2nd of April, when it was in fact not resolved, he found himself back at Greenstone Nedbank, where again no manager was found at the branch and this time he was given a number two numbers to phone(0800555111 and 0800111359). One not in service, the other rang. Because employees were at team building. Then, after 3 hours and about 14 cancelled calls he got through to a clerk who told him she’d escalate and it would be resolved in 24 hours – noticing a pattern ‍♀️?

On the 3rd of April, with no money in his account.. and no resolution. We got through to a Team leader based in KZN, two things shocked me: 1 – she would not divulge her details because of the “POPI” act, however 2 – she was more than happy to give me the name, surname and account number of where the debit had gone, after admitting it was done by a Nedbank employee into a Personal Loan Account. She then proceeded to tell us that only 40% of my dad’s money would be returned and the other 60% would go to Nedbank as a “recovery fee”. Apparently we’d receive a call with further information within an hour. Then 2 hours later we went to the Rivonia Head Office – at which the main branch also had no management on site as they were in a “meeting all day” (This is the third day in a row that Nedbank had no management at their branch – also noticing a pattern ‍♀️). The lady at reception also told us that all the telephonic clerks work from home – so there has been a rise in fraudulent activity and we were advised to open a case at our local police station – because now this was considered “Theft”.

Finally, the lady at reception put us through to a lady in Legal – who not only escalated but resolved our case in 24 hours. This means in total we spent over 7 hours and went through over 13 clerks to get our issue resolved.

South Africa, your “Number 1 Bank” was happy to steal from my father (fraudulently) and reveal the banking information of other clients at Nedbank. If this is your “Number 1” bank – what hope do you have ‍♀️.

I read so many of the bad reviews, I was ready for a thoroughly bad experience and having to lose my temper. BUT, amazing experience, two.ladies at the door were so helpful and friendly. Eventually, we realised the problem was bigger and Busi (client consultant) assisted me. Wonderful experience and kudos to the staff, all so very helpful!

Absolutely shocking service & unfriendly staff – will never go back and am now considering terminating my account..

I went into this branch after having received communication from Nedbank that I needed to present myself at a branch so I could get my account Fica’ed.

I got my number and waited for about 15 minutes for someone to help me – only to see a lady after me being served first, she was number 23 behind my number 22.
When I asked what was going on I was told that the lady in question ( No. 23 ) only needed a document stamped with a bank stamp…well I only needed my account Fica’ed!!

How do you Nedbank employ these incompetent individuals who know nothing about customer service and deal with clients daily with such terrible attitudes?

David Demetrio

The staff barely looked at us, never mind greeting us. When asking for Foreign Exchange, we were directed with a wave of the arm in the general direction of the waiting room. It was so bad, we went to Absa, where they transferred money from my Nedbank account and helped me with all the transactions. What a difference! Absa was curteous, helpful and obliging. The remark made by another customer at Nedbank was, “They just don’t care and act as if they’re doing a huge favour”.

December 2023:
H’lo Christo,
As I said at my branch visit this morning, When any FNB staffer gets his or her face close enough to my nose to where I smell hir Friday night garlic butter dinner on my otherwise beautiful Monday morning, then no matter how beautiful they are; no matter how expensive their hair, make-up, nails, perfume and tailored FNB uniforms are – THEY HAVE VIOLATED MY PERSONAL SPACE!
And worse so when they’ve just returned from a smoke break!
Back in the night, FNB used to place 1½ inch thick bulletproof glass panes between us customers and their staff – not for fear of that percentage of our population then called criminals, comrades, cadres, and terrorists, but to shield us from such nasty up-your-nose customer relations close encounters. Things were so much better back then when things were worse!
Someone needs to tell every single FNB employee that personal space means a full outstretched arm’s length distance. And the mechanics of fresh breath, staying in your lane, speaking up and speaking clearly need to be practiced and enforced from pre-appointment job induction onwards – including those doing-the-doing things you’re expected to ding-the-dong at home before you get to work – (not only brushing your teeth..!) Especially the fresh breath part, ‘cos perfume and peppermints don’t always cut it.
Hyran Cook

I’ve been to many FNB branches and I would rate this one of the worst due to the lack of urgency and SLOW service. I have came here 3 times now and all 3 times I’ve waited more than an hour to get assisted. The service is so slow that the queue builds up very quickly. It’s a shame that this branch is so bad because I come to this mall quite often.

NOBODY ATTEND THE PHONE.. NEVER.. EVER.. Landlines, cellphones– all same story . The internet banking. message center is also too complicated and badly designed compared to all other banks in South Africa. India is top in IT sector, but our dear SBI Still continue with at least a 20 year old design for web processes.. Please do something urgently.. SBI is dear to us, we are proud about this flagship Indian Brand, I am sure you can find a solution for it..

I reached this branch around 8.20 am (Office open at 8.30AM) and I was ably supported by the staff who approached me to check if I would need any assistance. Not just ne staff but i cam across at least 3 of them who checked with me for any help or assistance. I could open my bank account in just 30 minutes and the next day it got activated. I am sure the kind of infrastructure and experience they have in India, they should replicate those offerings here which will make most of the customers happy!

All the comments that others have made are correct.

The refurbished internet baking website is better but can be improved much. Customer Services are poor, no one picks the phone or responds your email within time. Pure government culture and reaping benefits of the State Bank brand legacy.

I must say, they have put quite some good money to make the branch swanky. You will have a feeling of private client but I guess most of the retail customer like us have no place in their system.

I have an account with SBI India and I needed to transfer some money to a local account- their internet banking does not work, so I was advised to go to the Joburg branch. If I could give them zero stars I would. There is apparently only one person available to open and close an account- Girish, who only opens accounts on appointment (what modern bank does that?). You cannot walk in to open an account. You can only make an appointment by calling them, and they never answer their phones. If you walk in without an appointment, you will wait for however long it takes for Girish to finish up his own work and they will not tell you how long it will take. But this important information is not provided on their website anywhere, so you only find out when you walk into the bank.

The receptionist is pointless. I heard her lying to someone on the phone that Girish hadn’t responded to his email or calls because he was currently in a meeting with CEO, while I was standing in front of her. When I asked where Girish was, he was finishing up his banking work. So….her job is basically to lie to customers. They are rude, and unhelpful liars.

SBI in India is bad enough, but they’ve exported their awful attitude and practices to South Africa. The bank employees make you feel like they’re doing you a favour by attending to you. Do yourself a favour and find another bank. even in India.

Worst Bank. Pathetic Service. Exorbitant charges. Charges for petty things such as bank statement, opening bank account, closing bank account [things which take a click]. Very bad rate while doing India remittance. Net banking site is not interactive and navigation is not user friendly, extremely slow. When you call them, they do not pick up the phone.
